African Movement for Democracy (AMD) Launches in Cameroon

On November 12, 2016, the African Movement for Democracy (AMD), a regional hub of African democracy activists, officially launched in Yaounde, Cameroon.
At the two-day conference, members of the movement discussed strategies for advancing democracy in Africa as well as strengthening cooperation between civil society and political leaders. In a statement for the launch, AMD members declared that they are “determined to take up the multifaceted challenges that confront democracy on the continent in the light of the social, economic and political changes taking place in the world.” Check out our Storify to see what the activists had to say about the launch.
