Democracy Leaders Convene at Zagreb Youth Summit
From November 6-9, 2017, members of the World Youth Movement for Democracy (WYMD) and other democracy leaders spoke at the Zagreb Youth Summit, an international forum on youth issues that was held in Zagreb, Croatia. During a WYMD-led panel at the event, Anita Mitic, director of the Youth Initiative for Human Rights Serbia (YIHRS), explained how youth voices are often ignored in political processes. Mitic described the importance of civil society organizations such as the YIHRS, which gives youth a platform to participate in politics and contribute to society. Additionally, Mitic invited youth activists to unite in support of the democratic values expressed in the Prague Appeal for Democratic Renewal. Click here to watch highlights from the event.
Anita Mitic is a former Hurford Youth Fellow at the WYMD Secretariat.
