How-To Guide for Tracking Election Data

The newly launched Open Election Data Initiative (OEDI) offers a suite of tools for improving election transparency by making it easy for citizens to understand and analyze election data. It was created by Google, the National Democratic Institute (NDI), and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), and is available in Arabic, English, French, and Spanish. Latin American civil society groups have already used the OEDI to examine various aspects of electoral processes, including voter registration, election results, polling stations, and ballot qualifications. With the newly available data, they have addressed the level of openness in elections throughout the region and developed a “Data Inventory” to capture their findings.
