You are invited to the World Movement for Democracy’s event on “Enabling Civic Space: Guidelines to Promote the Right to Access Funding” on June 30, 2023. This event will supplement UNSR Clément Voule’s presentation of guidelines to help UN member states and donor agencies implement the recommendations outlined in his June 2022 report on access to resources. The event will discuss how to strengthen international human rights norms to promote civil society’s right to access funding and how the guidelines can help civil society advocacy in protecting the right. Panelists will also offer practical recommendations for improving the Financial Action Task Force (FATF)’s counterterrorism measures and countering foreign agents laws. Co-sponsored by the UNSR on FOAA, ARTICLE 19, Asia Democracy Network, CIVICUS, DefendDefenders (East and Horn of Africa Human Rights Defenders Project), European Center for Not-for-Profit Law, Gulf Centre for Human Rights, International Center for Not-For-Profit Law, and Latin American and Caribbean Network for Democracy, the event will take place on June 30, from 13:30 to 15:00 (CET) at the Geneva Academy of International Humanitarian Law and Human Rights.
