Leading up to the biannual UNHRC resolution on youth and human rights taking place this coming September, the Community of Democracies (CoD) YouthLeads proposes incorporating the advancement of youth political participation as a sub-theme of the resolution. Youth participation in political spaces has increased over the past decades, with more young people promoting change as parliamentarians, NGO leaders, and professionals in international organizations and diplomacy. Still, a significant gap remains between youth presence and their meaningful inclusion in decision-making. To eliminate barriers to youth political participation worldwide, the CoD YouthLeads have launched the Ready for a Seat campaign! The campaign seeks to catalyze public support to advocate for a greater focus on youth issues at the UN Human Rights Council.
