The problem of technology-facilitated gender-based violence (TFGBV) is a global challenge that threatens women’s full participation in politics. Women political leaders don’t have a centralized platform to report the abuse they face or receive the necessary support to keep them safe and able to continue their work. In response to this challenge, the National Democratic Institute (NDI) is developing the Rapid Online Support and Assistance Mechanism (ROSA), a new tool to address this issue. Launched at the UN General Assembly and Forum on Internet Freedom in Africa, ROSA will be operational in early 2025. It will offer immediate assistance and financial support to women facing TFGBV and establish a survivor-led steering committee to guide its development.
