Public Perceptions Fall Throughout Latin America

In November 2018, the Latinobarómetro published its 23rd annual report on public opinion of socio-economic conditions in 18 countries in Latin America. The report indicates that all political, economic, and social indicators fell in 2018. Among other serious governmental failures, the report cites rampant corruption as a significant source of the region’s suffering. It notes that nine presidents of Latin American countries have been accused of links to the Brazilian construction company Odebrecht, pointing to the abuse of public office by a staggering number of public officials.
