#SetThemFree & Tamara Adrián Call for the Release of Venezuela’s Newest Political Prisoners
On June 19, 2016, Francisco Pancho Marquez Lara and Gabriel San Miguel, two Venezuelan activists, were arrested during a traffic stop by the Venezuelan National Guard on charges of having “opposition paraphernalia” in their car. Both are members of Venezuela’s opposition party, Voluntad Popular, and were traveling to the rural state of Portuguesa to help local activists with the recall referendum campaign when they were stopped by authorities. The two men join dozens of other political prisoners who have been imprisoned since the 2014 student protests. The recent arrests have sparked an international outcry and a #LiberenAPanchoYGabomovement calling for their release. Join Tamara Adrián and the World Movement for Democracy on calling for Venezuelan authorities to #SetThemFree!
